About the SBDC Technology Adoption Program

Background

The Technology Adoption Program (TAP) is a technology consulting and training program for small and medium businesses, aimed at helping clients use technology tools in a strategic way to improve the business bottom line.

TAP was incepted by the US Small Business Administration and is delivered through the Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) network, both in California and nationally. TAP's services are government funded and are provided either free or low cost to clients.

TAP's consulting processes and training services have been built so that the desired outcomes are clearly understood by prospective clients, the engagement commitment is quantifiable, and the results are easily measurable and transparent.

Service Ethos

  1. Clearly understood outcomes. TAP consultants agree a Scope(s) of Work with Clients with outcomes that are targeted to significantly improve the business' bottom line.
  2. Quantifiable engagement commitment. Clients are informed up-front about their expected commitment to the engagement in terms of hours and information provision/key personnel availability. Engagements are controlled by mutually agreed Scopes of Work.
  3. Measurable Results. TAP has a duty to measure the effectiveness of its services. Clients are expected to provide the information necessary to measure results. TAP can only continue engagements with clients that demonstrate measurable business improvement as a result of working with TAP.
